Words From Dr. Jacob Hawk

In this sermon, Jacob Hawk explores the “seven things God hates” from Proverbs 6, emphasizing that understanding what God hates helps us better understand what He loves. The message highlights how sin often begins subtly—through pride, dishonesty, harmful actions, and sinful thoughts—but can quickly grow into destructive patterns that impact both individuals and communities. Particular focus is given to the dangers of rushing into sin, spreading division, and living without integrity, showing how these behaviors damage relationships and distance us from God.

Ultimately, the sermon calls believers to examine their hearts, pursue righteousness, and model their lives after Jesus—who embodies truth, humility, unity, and sacrificial love.

In this sermon, Jacob Hawk reminds us of three essentials every Christian must hold onto. Drawing from Hebrews and John, he shows that we cannot live without the blood of Jesus, because without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness; we cannot live without faith, because without faith it is impossible to please God; and we cannot live without Jesus Himself, because apart from Him we can do nothing of eternal value. This lesson is a call to remember what matters most, to trust God in life’s hardest moments, and to recommit ourselves to walking closely with Christ.

In this sermon, Jacob Hawk explores how expectations grow throughout life and what God ultimately expects from His people. Centered on Luke 12:48, he reminds us that with great blessings comes great responsibility.

As the Mesquite Church of Christ enters a new chapter, this message highlights the importance of biblical teaching, strong community, and a shared commitment to spiritual and numerical growth. Hawk challenges the church to move beyond comfort, stay focused on God’s mission, and invest in a future that impacts generations to come.

A powerful call to rise to God’s expectations and trust Him to do great things through His people.
