This short episode details what I intend to do with this new series of podcasts. It is details what my motivation is for creating it, and how I hope it impacts the next listener. It also tries to explain the format things might take on.

Impressive things in life often only impress when they are looked at from a distance. Up close they are simple and banal, underwhelming and unimpressive. And because of this distance, most people underestimate the power they have to make great things. And consequently ignore the “little foxes that spoil the vine”. This episode focuses on that.

‘Horizons’ is the title of the spoken word piece in this episode, it’s a depiction the hope that can be found in dark and hopeless times, as well as a cry for hope. The issue of hope is one of psychological importance, and spirituality has its core the issue of hope, it gives it. Here I try to discuss the relationship between the two, mental health and spirituality.

This episode is focused on the immense power we have to make our lives. For the most part we are passive participants in the process of shaping our lives. But that is merely because we haven’t gotten full grasp of how much we can control our lives. Developing the cognisance is the purpose of this episode.

Here we focus on the dissonance between the desired place and the place we are in, and the manifestation of it as fear and apprehension.

The #BlackLivesMatter movement has swept the world by storm. And it’s striking how much people don’t discuss the psychology behind the racism and systematic oppression on both sides. The oppressed and the oppressor. And we need to champion conversations about these things? Because what we are ultimately trying to do is alter mindsets.

The hardest question to answer is that of identity. Most people answer the question with their job description, gender or passion, but do these things really grant us our identities? In this episode we explore an idea of how to conceptualise our being. Where we came from, how we ought to think and function.

Questions and Faith is a poem exploring the question of pain and suffering, the goodness of God, the indifference of God and the dissonance between His proclaimed love and the reality of pain. How do you keep your faith when you’re in pain?
