  • Walking Through the Epistles | 9. Cast Out the Bondwoman

Galatians 4:21-31, 5:1-6. This is how we concluded Ch.4

    • Paul is saying, the law center, which is the religious power center "earthly Jerusalem" is going to be destroyed, but there is an eternal living "heavenly Jerusalem" that is built for those who have faith in Jesus Christ will never be destroyed.
    • Paul is saying you don’t need to die for your "faith on the law based religion", because Christ died for you. ----more----
    • Martyrdom for the law based system doesn't take one to heaven, but martyrs of faith on Christ will be found in heaven.
    • Once we receive Christ, we are no more children of the bondwoman, we are children of the living God.
    • The followers of the law (Jews) becoming thinner and thinner and getting extinguished on the face of the earth. But the followers of Christ (including Christ following Jews) is flourishing.

In following or not following any religious practices, what is important is our motivation. If we do anything with an attitude of pleasing God, honoring God, it means something. If not, observing or not observing any practice is of no use.

  • Walking Through the Epistles | 8. Paul Gets Personal

    Galatians 4:1-20

This is how we concluded the sermon saying that,
    1. Once we were no different than slaves when we were under the law, but Christ Jesus adopted us as sons and now we are no longer slaves.
    2. When we consider one day more important than another day to observe special days we need to be fully convinced that we do it to honor the Lord. ----more----Not just to follow the pagan traditions or to celebrate the law demanded festivals of Judaism.
    3. When circumstances change and even when our existence is on threat, make our commitments to the Lord firm for not to deviate from the truth
    4. Never stumble over the truth, take offense and develop hatred and enmity with others.

  • Walking Through the Epistles | 7. Law and Faith Contrasted

Galatians 3:15-29 Here are the concluding thoughts of the sermon.

    1. The promise God gave to Abraham 430 years before the law was given, was received by faith and fulfilled in Christ.
    2. Law was given to mirror man's iniquity, to protect the coming of the seed and to lead one to Christ as a tutor. ----more----
    3. Followers of the law could be made as servants of God, but law could never make anyone son or daughter of God. Only faith in Christ could.
    4. Law could only make division, but faith in Christ Jesus breaks the division, sets us free and makes us one in Christ.

  • Walking Through the Epistles | 6. Bewitched And Befooled

Galatians 3:1-14 Here are the concluding thoughts we shared towards the end of the sermon.

    • Today if we are not careful, we will be easily bewitched and befooled by the traditions, philosophies, false teachings and changing trends.
    • As the law cannot produce righteousness, cannot save sinners, all the legalistic rituals and traditions we follow make no difference in us. They are capable of neither saving us nor taking us to heaven. ----more----
    • Abraham was justified and counted righteous because of his faith in God and his work of faith. This is the same basis on which a sinner is saved today. By having faith in God and start living by faith.
    • Law brings curse and it requires us to be hung on a tree. But Jesus took our place and set us free.

  • Walking Through the Epistles | 5. Peter's Hypocrisy & Paul's Rebuke

Galatians 2:6-21. Here are the concluding thoughts.

    • We may differ in our responsibilities, our abilities & skills may be different, the call of God may be different in our lives. But one is not greater than the other. We are all equal in Christ.
    • We must be willing to accept and include all kind of people. What God has already cleansed, we must not call unclean.
    • Be courageous like Paul to make corrections and be submissive as Peter to accept corrections. ----more----
    • Grace doesn't make room for us to live in sin, grace doesn't make us guilty of not following the law, we are made guilty and sinful if we rebuild those laws once we rejected.
    • Law says, you can be justified and made righteous by works. But grace says, you can be justified and made righteous by having faith in Christ Jesus.
    • Law leads to death, but faith in Christ leads to life.

  • Walking Through the Epistles | 4. Jerusalem Approved Paul's Gospel

Galatians 1:18-24, 2:1-5. Here are the key thoughts of this sermon.

    1. Christian friendship is important, even though we are two different contrasting personalities, when we come together in Jesus name, we must forget the differences as we are one in Christ
    2. Christian fellowship is important. That’s where we learn to trust each other and grow together in Christ ----more----
    3. In a church or any organizational setup, it is important to make sure your ideas and initiatives are in agreement with the leadership
    4. There are false teachings around us that will take away the freedom we have in Christ and take us into slavery of legalism. Don't even listen and pay attention to those. (False teachings are more powerful than the devil because of its deceptive nature.)

  • Walking Through the Epistles | 3. Gospel & Apostleship Defended (Gal 1:1-17)

    Salutation (V 1:1-5), Reason for the Letter (V 1:6-10) & The call to Apostleship (V 1:11-17).
Some of the outstanding truth we learned today as take away are,
    1. We need to be extra careful about the deceptive side of the truth
    2. Remember, all of us are bought by the blood of Jesus. No doubt that we are bond servant of Jesus Christ ----more----
    3. Our desire must be not to please people, but to please God
    4. When God is asking you to do something, do not consult with your own flesh to see if your flesh feels good about it or not
    5. When God asking you to do something, do not go around and take opinion from people.
