  • Intercession | Part 1

Intercessory prayer is to literally stand in the gap for someone. When we intercede for someone God sends his angels to deliver His protection and Provision

Intercessory prayer is the prayer that enables us to move into the realm of “Pray without ceasing”

Listen to the sermon to find the answers to these questions:

    - Is it Biblical to intercede?  Are there Biblical examples of intercessory prayers?
    - Who can intercede?

  • Characteristics of the Early Church | Introduction

Some of the characteristics of the early church were:

    - Bold in their telling

    - Devoted in prayer They had a devoted prayer life
    - They were of one heart and mind
    - They were filled with the Spirit
    - They met frequently
    - It was a learning Church; it persisted in listening to the apostles as they taught
    - It was a Church of fellowship; it had the great quality of togetherness----more----
    - It was a praying Church; these early Christians knew that they could not meet life in their own strength and that they did not need to
    - It was a growing church
    - It was a reverent Church; in verse 43 the word translated “fear” has the idea of awe in it
    - It was a Church where things happened; signs and wonders were there
    - It was a sharing Church; they had a feeling of responsibility for each other
    - It was a worshiping Church; they never forgot to visit God’s house
    - It was a happy Church
    - It was a helping church

  • Characteristics of the Early Church | A Learning Church

In this sermon the three reasons for the early church to be a learning church were discussed:

    - They had a teacher who was not teaching from their knowledge, but teaching from what they experienced in their walk with the Lord Jesus Christ

    - The believers repented, were baptized and anointed. An unbeliever cannot learn God's Word, that doesn't mean anything to him
    - They just started believing in the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ

  • Characteristics of the Early Church | A United Church

Early church was a united church (breaking of bread & prayer, one mind and one accord).

One who decides to lose things and even his life for the sake of Christ will no way harm the unity of the church.

This is what is needed in churches today:

    No leadership seminars

    No settlements & peace talks
No committees for compromise & reconciliation
    No transfer of pastors
    No division among churches----more----
No shutting down and closure of churches

All that the churches need is a bunch of believers who are dead to self, who are dead to the world and who are dead and willing to die for Christ.

  • Characteristics of the Early Church | Miracle Working Church

    - God used Noah to destroy the world with flood.

    - God used Moses to part the red sea
    - God used Joshua to make the sun stand still in the midst of heaven
    - God used Jonah to save Nineveh from the destruction
    - God used Elijah to destroy the prophets of Baal
    - God used Jesus to heal the sick and to deliver the oppressed
    - God used Peter and John to heal the lame
    - God used Peter's shadow to heal the sick
    - God used Paul's handkerchief and aprons to heal the sick and deliver the demon possessed----more----

Not seeing miracles in today's churches doesn't mean that miracles ceased.  It means, the church is

    - Not keeping Christ as an example
    - Not willing to sacrifice
    - Not willing to come out of the personal things

  • Characteristics of the Early Church | A Sharing Church

We read in Acts 2:44-45, Acts 4:32: The early church was a sharing church.  They enjoyed everything in common.

You may say that how was it possible not to own anything, instead selling all their property and sharing with other?  But the Bible says, that’s how it happened in the early church.

You may say that the church can be a learning church, it can be a united church and even we can stay in prayer and fasting so that miracles can happen.  But how do you expect us to sell all that we possess and distribute it to everyone?  Today people are willing to write the will on their property once they know they are going to die, not when they are alive.----more----

But the early church was willing to write their will on someone else's name even when they were alive.

    - I believe more than the act of selling and sharing, we are more interested in the motive behind the act of sharing

    - I believe the early church was not setting their mind on what they possess, instead their mind was on God
    - I believe the early church was willing to sacrifice even their land, possession, savings, earnings for the sake of  unity and building God's kingdom

  • Characteristics of the Early Church | A Giving Church

The early church was a giving church.

    - No one asked them to give (spontaneous giving)

    - They got the revelation of giving and God blessed those who obeyed.(revelation driven giving)
    - Giving increased their bank balance in the heaven. (eternal giving)

We can't take the money or cheque to heaven, but we can start depositing in heaven by giving to God.  If any of us feel that we don't give enough to God, you should start giving to God.----more----

I encourage you to come with offering when you come to the church.  If you feel that your finance is not blessed, start giving to God in everything that you receive and spend.  You will see the blessing of God according to the above promise.

  • Characteristics of the Early Church | A God Fearing Church

Jesus said in Luke 18:8 when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”  We are living in a generation where we hardly find faith. So we cannot expect faith in God to bring the fear of God.  What brings fear of God to this faithless generation?  It is the supernatural power of God.

The early church was a God fearing church and the fear of God came upon the church as the believers started seeing supernatural things by the hands of the apostles. ----more----

Fear of God came upon the early church for four simple reasons:

    - The Word was preached

    - Sinners were saved
    - Sick were healed
    - Unholy, willful acts were punished
