Let’s Listen to the Pope
The Night’s asleep, the Day about
The one awake with the Clout
Silence weeps, its tears abound
There’s nothing left bar the shout.
Silence, declares in no uncertain terms
The very pedestrian nature of life,
How routine and dull it is, can be
When peace prevails at the end of strife.
Do we not, then, thirst for action
Look for movement and vibrancy,
Do things weird and flabbergasting
Think of the future, try necromancy.
Where lies sanity in this insane world
Where intelligence is artificial and satire,
A simple case of annihilation is
From the frying into the fire.
Military might to save ourselves
And, all we see is our horrific plight,
Hearts don’t melt, eyes shed no tears
At the awful pictures that now meet our sight
And, we talk of greener, brighter futures
For those we leave behind, the generations ahead,
Cruelty thy name, indeed, is Modern Man
There might soon be less alive and more dead.
Take heed, O Wise Men, listen to the Pope
Religion has nothing to do with Peace and Hope,
He speaks for Mankind and does from the heart
We, surely, need guidance on how to cope
With our own deadly ferocity
The Devil awake, the weeping Saint,
Words of Wisdom falling on deaf ears
Sadly, Tragically.
