Work and Workers in the Age of COVID

Listen Later

Facing another COVID case surge in the U.S. and with the presidential election just around the corner, today we do a worker check-in with Stephanie Luce, professor at the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies.
Over the course of the hour, she and Patty cover topics like COVID’s ongoing impact on workers, the changing meaning of “essential worker,” unions and unionization, and the ongoing fight for workers’ rights, health, and safety protections in the midst of the pandemic and beyond.
Stephanie Luce is a professor of labor studies at the School of Labor and Urban Studies and a professor of sociology at the Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY). She is the author of Fighting for a Living Wage (Cornell University Press, 2004) and Labor Movements: Global Perspectives (Polity, 2014).
Stephanie Luce will be giving a virtual talk tomorrow as part of the Havens Wright Center lecture series. The talk is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required.
