Interview with 2018 IBJJF Black Belt World Champion Mahamed Aly. We discuss fear management, visualization and the fact that training is not the only requirement to becoming world champion at the highest level.

We sit down with Air Force veteran and owner of The Compound BJJ Muay Thai Combatives, Pow Srikachorn. Starting with "Why" we discuss the mission of The Compound and the vision for its growth. Currently the academy offers Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Yoga, and Combatives and also regularly hosts community outreach events for military and law enforcement.

Collaboration with Trapp BJJ! We interview Trapp's newest instructor GFT Black Belt Gutemberg Pereira. We discuss his transition from Brazil to his current residence in Ohio, training for the highest level of Jiu Jitsu competition, and some of his recent accomplishments. Collaboration with Abmar Barbosa Black Belt and newest Trapp BJJ instructor Marysia Malyjasiak. Marysia is a very accomplished grappler and Judoka who recently stood atop the podium at Pan Ams. We discuss her background, her opinion on current trends in training, and her plans for the future. Pay close attention to her explanation of the "triangle for success" with regards to Jiu Jitsu competition.

Episode one in the Why We Compete Series recored at Standard BJJ in Rockville, MD. In this episode I sit down with several people who are competing in the upcoming IBJJF DC Open. We discussed there motivation behind competition and their overall Jiu Jitsu goals.
