Episode: Why Self-Coaching Is Becoming an Essential WorkLife Skill
What happens when your working life changes — and nobody can tell you exactly what comes next?
Archie is an experienced operations manager whose organisation is changing. Technology is taking over some processes, responsibilities are moving between teams and new areas of work are emerging.
His role isn't disappearing.
It's becoming less clearly defined.
When his manager tells him there will be considerable scope to shape what his role becomes, Archie initially looks at what his work is losing. Then he begins asking different questions:
What do I want to take forward with me?
What am I becoming useful for now?
What is changing — and what does that ask of me now?
This WorkLife Story explores why self-coaching is becoming an essential WorkLife skill — not because we should navigate our working lives alone, but because roles, organisations, technology and our own priorities continue to change, and the next step won't always be mapped out for us.
