Depression, anxiety, migraines, and pain were Lois’ way of life until she was asked the perfect question. What do you do about shame? Lois’ life changed dramatically. She found her mission. Since internet did not exist, her first stoop was the library. Lois soon came to learn that shame and guilt was within everything she felt. The good news was that she could heal her anger, depression, migraines, rage, fears, pain, etc. The solution to her many emotional and physical problems was in confronting shame and guilt. Now Lois shares her 15 years’ experience as a Shame/Guilt Educator, Counselor, and Filmmaker to give us a short, effective, and lasting way to health and wellness. Lois comes to us with a life-long background in health. She began as a Nurse’ Aide at 12 and continues today at 76. Lois is the author of three books and a video on shame and guilt. Her newest book, “Now is The Time”, contains her Light Language readings that help our spiritual development by dissolving resistant mental/emotional patterns. January 22, 2021 Right Said Ed: Kressy & The FBI
Today’s episode “Right Said Ed: Kressy & The FBI” with my Guest, Ed Kressy. Ed had a lot of opportunities in life: college education, career with Genentech (named Fortune Magazine's Number One "Best Company to Work For"), home ownership in San Francisco.
Yet he threw it all, and much more, away to two decades of drug addiction. He spent months in jail, and years in destitution. His final 11 devastating years of addiction to methamphetamine resulted in harrowing psychosis, including extreme paranoia around the FBI.
After getting clean in 2008, he discovered: Just because you're done with drugs, doesn't mean drugs are done with you. He continued to battle severe mental health challenges. Fortunately, amazing individuals inspired him to pursue a path of self-improvement, spirituality, and service to others. In 2019, FBI Director Christopher Wray recognized him with his Director's Community Leadership Award.
His inspiring transformation is the subject of his upcoming book, My Addiction & Recovery: Just Because You're Done with Drugs, Doesn't Mean Drugs Are Done with You (Lifestyle Entrepreneurs Press, April 2020). His articles appear in The Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, and Vox. He has appeared on stage for The Moth.
He volunteers for the FBI and Police Department in his hometown of San Francisco, helping their outreach to communities affected by incarceration and addiction. He spends days and weekends in California state prisons, volunteering for organizations (Defy Ventures and Hustle 2.0) that deliver training in entrepreneurism and employment for currently and formerly incarcerated men and women.
He leads a weekly Toastmasters-style meeting in a women's unit of San Francisco County Jail.

Today’s episode “Jane, Billy Said Get In The Car!!” highlights a writing team match made in heaven. World of Walley welcomes Billy VanZandt. He and his writing partner, the late Jane Milmore, are two of the most often produced playwrights in the world. Billy and Jane met at a high school acting competition in their home state of New Jersey. Together for 46 years, they wrote and starred in 25 plays together, including the international hit comedy "You've Got Hate Mail;" Off-Broadway's tribute to slapstick comedy "Silent Laughter;" cult favorite ""Drop Dead"; the Marx Bros. musical "A Night at the Nutcracker;" and the summer stock stock perennial "Love, Sex, and the IRS." Billy's solo play "The Property Known as Garland" starring his ex-wife Adrienne Barbeau broke box office records at Off-Broadway's Actors Playhouse. The plays have been produced in thousands of theaters worldwide, including two productions directed by Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis ("Billy and Jane are funny, outrageous, off-the chart writers/performers") and one by film legend Burt Reynolds. For television, these award-winning writers have produced over three hundred hours of television comedy, including "Newhart;" "Martin," which won them a People's Choice Award; "The Hughley's," which won them a Prism Award;" "Suddenly Susan" for Brooke Shields; "Daddy Dearest" for Don Rickles and Richard Lewis; "Anything But Love" for Jamie Lee Curtis and Richard Lewis; "The Wayans Bros."; and "I Love Lucy: The Very First Show" which won them an Emmy nomination. As an actor, Billy made his film debut in "Jaws 2"; co-starred with George C Scott, Tim Hutton, Sean Penn, Tom Cruise, Giancarlo Esposito, and Evan Handler in "Taps;" and has starred in over 300 theatrical plays including the 25 he penned with Miss Milmore. Billy lives in Los Angeles, when he's not touring the world in the last Van Zandt/Milmore musical, "The Boomer Boys Musical." We also discuss his book, “Jane Get In The Car!” and just for fun his connection to the Southern Rock Bands 38 Special and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Listen and enjoy.
