World Over

Listening Room | 002

Listening Room 002 moves through deep and global house with selections from Stefan Ringer, Shinichi Atobe, Kyle Hall, and Boddhi Satva. Warm, percussive, and patient in its build, this one leans into groove over urgency. Recorded for long listens and open ears.

A deeper house mix built low to the ground. Classic records, a few from the last several years, and newer cuts, all pitched down to sit in a slower pocket. Dubbed out, warm, and steady at around 104 BPM. Less peak-time pressure, more patience in the groove.

*** All pitched down

An all-vinyl tribute to J Dilla, built mostly from deeper cuts.

Mixing Dilla on wax is almost its own discipline. The intros rarely announce themselves in straight lines, and the unquantized swing that gives his beats life also resists the kinds of clean, predictable blends that digital systems make easy. Working through this catalog by hand is a reminder of how much intention lives in the timing itself.

Most of what I play out these days is on CDJs, where alignment and transitions are more exact by design. This was an opportunity to approach the music differently and stay honest to the feel that makes these records what they are.

I’m happy with how it came together. TURN IT UP!

A bold, percussive re-imagining of Sade’s War of the Hearts, this remix pulses with the energy of samba drums while staying true to the song’s intimate soul. Layered rhythms underscore the timeless themes of yearning, heartache, and fragile hope. The stripped-down acapella intro invites the listener in before the groove blooms into a dance-floor-ready DJ tool. It’s both a tribute to Sade’s elegance and a celebration of raw, live percussion.
