Paolo Zacchera is a camellia, azalea and Japanese maple specialist with a nursery La Compagnia del Lago Maggiore in Verbania on the shores of Lake Maggiore. He tells us all about those marvels of autumn, the Camellia sasanqua. He suggests planting "Cleopatra" for an early - about now pink-flowered form - then the white "Ina Yuki" and the red, late flowering "Yule tide" that flowers at about Christmas - three months of colour with only three plants and some acidic soil! They will do very well in containers too, so ideal for balconies.
