Landon and Greg from the Omaha band Little Brazil join me in the studio and bring along some songs from their upcoming album "Son". We talk about how that band has grown from 4+ years of playing and touring together. Now signed to Anodyne Records, Little Brazil is set to embark on press and touring behind what seems to be their strongest material to date. On this episode of Worlds of Wayne I welcome Lauren Mulderrig. Currently on tour with band mate and guitarist Alex Barnett, she is making her way across the country and stopped off in Omaha to play a show at Mick's. Turns out it was the last show Mick's would have as the place changed ownership shortly after. We will miss that place. Alex is also a guitarist in the hardcore band Stick To Your Guns and we play a tune at the end of the episode from them. Omaha musician and local legend Dereck Higgins joins me on the show to talk about his colorful musical upbringing. He's played virtually all styles of music and has been a pioneer in the Omaha music scene. From Jazz to punk, Dereck has played it all and experienced what it's like to be the only black man in a rock and roll band in the Midwest. Welcome to 2009 people. Last year was a blast, starting off with some great guests and ending with the generous donations of you the listener. It was fun going back through the list of in studio guests, interviews and events that Worlds of Wayne had and I want to thank all of you for your continued support into 2009. This year started off with a bang as the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards took over the Holland Center and recognized local music, theater, and art with a grand event, a few cocktails, and some sweet trophies.
