There are two primary errors when it comes to spiritual warfare. Some blame every sin, and every problem on demons that need to be cast out. Others completely ignore the spiritual realm and the fact that the Bible tells us our battle is against spiritual powers. Today, Pastor Holland will be explaining that the key to successful spiritual warfare is finding the biblical balance. The apostle Paul instructs Christians to wage war against the sin in themselves and warns us to oppose the schemes of the devil
Today, Pastor Holland will be challenging you to remember who you are in Jesus. You are redeemed and forgiven of all your sins, and you’ve been adopted as a child of God! When you sin, run to the Lord and allow Him to cleanse you. God’s not full of anger and wrath towards you, His wrath has been satisfied on the cross that Jesus took for you! God loves you and looks at you just as though you’ve never sinned because He sees the righteousness of Jesus in you.
As Pastor Holland continues his teaching series through the book of Judges, he’ll be encouraging you to run to Jesus when you sin, not away from Him. The enemy tempts you to sin and then condemns you so that you’ll hide from God. The Holy Spirit, on the other hand, will convict you of your sin so that you can run to Jesus for forgiveness and cleansing. You’re saved by faith through grace, not of works! When you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, all your past, present, and future sins are forgiven.
Today, Pastor Holland will be explaining how although God is love, He is also equally just and righteous in all His ways. When Adam and Eve sinned, God could not overlook it. The great Lord God Almighty, Lord of angel armies, worthy of all adoration and worship had been defied by the dust He had formed into people. He had made these creatures for His own purpose and pleasure. He showered love and bounty on them. Although in God’s justice, He allowed consequences, He still provided a way of salvation in Jesus!
A wolf in sheep’s clothing is sometimes used to describe a character who pretends to be someone they’re not. They want you to believe they’re gentle and kind when in reality they’re waiting for the opportunity to ambush you with a dose of hatefulness or slander. In much the same way, we can treat our strongholds like this. Asking God which ones need to go, while still clinging to some. When in fact, they all need to go because Jesus can’t exist with them present. This is Pastor Holland’s message today.
Have you ever come across a situation or a habit that seems impossible to overcome? Or maybe you have a relationship that needs a breakthrough? All of us, even the Israelite nation on the journey to the Promised Land, can relate to stronghold struggles. The message today from Pastor Holland reminds us of the difference Jesus makes in our lives. He punches holes in our strongholds and makes them crumble. All the lies we believed about ourselves and others can’t stand against the truth of Jesus.
Candy’s oh-so-good to eat, but if it sits too long on our teeth it can cause problems, right? It’s the same way with strongholds. If we don’t face them head-on, with the truth of God’s word, then that positive, protective presence has the capability to sour even the most kind and compassionate person. Friends, we have a choice. Will we tear down our strongholds by trusting and serving Jesus? Or will strongholds remain because our faith is in ourselves and the culture? This is Pastor Holland’s message today.
Can you imagine a house being made up entirely of bedrooms? Or a car made entirely of wheels? I know, it’s crazy and totally ineffective. It’s the same with you and I when WE place ourselves where WE think we should be OR we simply don’t use the gifts God’s given to us. In his message, Pastor Holland shared with us the story of the division of land between the 12 tribes of Israel and how their inability to take their place affected not only their lives but those around them. Will you take the spot God has for YOU?
Just as the sun takes its place in the sky on a summer day, or the bear takes its slumber in winter, so must we take our place in sharing Jesus with others. Did you know the Bible tells us to love our enemies as ourselves and to do good to those who hurt us? It seems impossible at times, but when we obey God we fulfill a specific space He’s placed us in at that exact time. Each one of us has gifts unique to us. Can you guess what happens when we don’t use them? Pastor Holland talks about this in his message today.
Who am I? Where do I belong? What gifts are unique to me? These are all questions I’ve asked myself at one time or another as I try to find my place in this world. I know I'm not alone in this. We can look at machinery and see how each part works with another to get the job done. The same could be said about the human body and earth systems. You see, God has uniquely created each one of us and given us purpose. Today Pastor Holland describes how some of us take our place and others do not.
