Ever heard someone refer to themselves as 'tone deaf'? Ever told someone they can't sing? (I hope not!) Ever thought you're stuck with the voice you were born with? Let's talk about why it's so important to relearn and reframe this thinking and start encouraging our teams and churches that they CAN sing.

Vocal registers is a huge topic! In today's episode I try to condense some of this down into an overview of the 5 vocal registers, focusing more specifically on chest voice and head voice, and touching on the concept of blending these 2 registers into mixed voice.

The 5 vocal registers (labelled due to the different vibratory patterns of the vocal cords) are:

Many singers know that breathing is important for singing, but have no idea what to do or where to start. In today's episode I briefly discuss why I see breathing as both foundational for singing....and also not as important as we think. 

Have you ever been told to breathe into the diaphragm, or sing from the diaphragm? I also discuss why I don't teach either of these things, and actually prefer you not to think about the diaphragm at all when you approach your vocal training!
