Genesis Lesson 13 Chapter 16 - The God Who See's Me
In lesson 12, Abram is promised a son. He was 75 years old Sari 65 years old. They dwelt in Cannan for 10 years trying and waiting for Sarah to become pregnant but nothing happens. They both start to wonder what's going on. Lord, we are getting pretty old here!
Hagar and Ishmael
16 Now Sari, Abram's wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar; 2 so she said to Abram, "The LORD has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her."Abram agreed to what Sari said. 3 So after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sari his wife took her Egyptian slave Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his wife. 4 He slept with Hagar, and she conceived.
This chapter now takes a twist and is focused on Hagar. She is like many of us going in the opposite direction from God. She is a picture of how we all try to run away from problems and how we were lost spiritually but God finds us.Verse 13 is key as she says 13 She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have now seen[c] the One who sees me."
