The city of Madison Clerk’s Office must change a handful of election processes to prevent a repeat of last November’s snafu, according to the Wisconsin Elections Commission.

State election officials approved the order mandating the changes on Friday, despite pushback from city officials arguing they didn’t have the authority to target specific municipalities.

Tomorrow, August 19th is the seventy-second anniversary of the CIA/M-I6 sponsored coup against the democratically-elected government of Mohammad Mosaddegh of Iran. He was marked for overthrow when his government nationalized Iran’s oil industry, which had been under British control. Harry Richardson has the story.

On today’s show host Esty Dinur is joined by Peter Hutchinson to tackle the overwhelming and slippery topic of neoliberalism and this ideology’s impact on everyday life. Hutchinson co-authored the book The Invisible Doctrine, and is the filmmaker of the documentary of the same name. He says that he and his co-author, George Monbiot, wanted to make the inception, propagation, and policies of neoliberalism accessible to more audiences.
