The Democratic Party of Wisconsin will soon be under new leadership, after members elected the party’s next chair at their annual convention this weekend.

The convention was held under the backdrop of nationwide protests and a deadly shooting this weekend in Minnesota that targeted Democratic lawmakers.

June 18th , 1935 was the Battle of Ballantyne Pier, when striking dockworkers attempting to stop non-union workers were attacked by several hundred armed police. The strike failed, but set the stage for the formation of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union two years later. Harry Richardson has the story.

The Annual Nourishing Minds, Sustaining Futures Summit will take place this Wednesday, June 18. Now, in its third year, the program aims to foster food justice and food education in schools. The event is open to the public. Host Douglas Haynes speaks with three of the organizers–Allison Pfaff Harris, Sonya Sankaran, and Kathy Oker–about the speakers, workshops, and the importance of environmental education.
