Sunday was NOT a normal day at World View. We had no news for listeners, but we did have a special panel of five Third World View and World View veterans and current members to help celebrate WORT’s 50 Years in Your Ears, the community of WORT volunteers, listeners and donors that have made this station great.
We had Norman Stockwell, the ultimate WORT and World View veteran and continuing member of the collective leading the panel as well as Professor Marc Becker zooming in from Missouri, Stephen Mikesell just back from Kathmandu, current interview host Gil Halsted and Allen Ruff now of A Public Affair on WORT in the studio.
We asked listeners to celebrate with us by pledging new or continued support of WORT and enough of them pledged online to convince us that they share our love for community radio and are willing to begin and continue their support.
Norm guided us all through the years of TWV/WV that began in the spring of 1976 with stories covered from around the world and some from right here in Madison. We celebrated seeing and hearing each other talk about the good old days and the good new days when our community gathered around - and still does - to make WORT one of the best.
So thank you to all who joined us and if you didn’t hear it while it was on, please have a listen here. It was a good old time had by all.
