Patrick talks with Sara Combs the coach for the Kansas Veterans Wheelchair Games. Veterans who participate in these games have lost body parts while in the line of duty; however, they deal with there disabilities by participating in athletic events that strengthen their bodies and mind.
In recent years the Kansas team has fallen into hard times financing the team. Almost everything the team has done has been paid for by the coach Sara. The team goes around looking for parts for their wheelchairs which need repairs. Because of the lack of funds their special equipment is shared with other teammates. This includes personal equipment that shouldn’t be shared. Listen to the series of events that lead to this horrible situation and how a coach came to the rescue who refuses to be recognized as a hero.
