SmackDown was supposed to feel huge on the road to WrestleMania… but instead it felt completely empty.

Cody Rhodes defeated Drew McIntyre to win the championship, and on paper that should be a massive moment. Cody is the face of the company, the guy WWE clearly wants on top. But the reaction online tells a very different story.

So far, the Cody Rhodes title win has already racked up over 50,000 dislikes on YouTube, and that alone tells you how divided the fanbase is right now.

And honestly, the bigger problem wasn’t just the result. The entire SmackDown felt like it had no real story progression. It was just match after match after match. Wrestling is supposed to be more than that. The matches matter, but the story is what makes those matches feel important.

In this video I break down the pros and cons of Cody Rhodes winning the title, why so many fans are furious about the booking, and why this SmackDown felt like a huge missed opportunity on the road to WrestleMania.

Cody Rhodes defeated Drew McIntyre to win the championship on SmackDown… and somehow it felt completely predictable.

On paper this should have been a massive moment. The Road to WrestleMania is supposed to be where things get wild, chaotic, and unpredictable. Instead this episode of SmackDown felt like WWE just went through the motions.

Drew McIntyre finally had the title… and the reign was short. Cody Rhodes wins it back… and the next thing staring us in the face is the most obvious match possible with Randy Orton.

Nothing about this show felt surprising.

Nothing felt dangerous.

Everything felt like it was written exactly how you expected it to go.

Tonight on WrestleChop I forced my friend Beau to watch WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, even though he is basically a new wrestling fan who does not follow WWE at all. The last time Beau watched wrestling was about one year almost twenty years ago, so this was essentially his first time watching modern WWE.

What happens when a non wrestling fan watches WWE today?

Beau reacts to everything from Logan Paul wrestling, the chaos of the Elimination Chamber, and the larger than life characters that make WWE what it is. One of the biggest surprises was his reaction to Danhausen, who completely confused him in the best possible way.

We also talk about why Beau thought the Women's Elimination Chamber match stood out more than the men's, how wrestlers like Asuka immediately felt like stars, and what modern wrestling looks like through the eyes of someone who is basically watching WWE for the first time.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2026 is in the books and I’m calling it exactly how I saw it. This wasn’t a bad show. It just felt predictable from bell to bell… until the ending flipped everything.

Randy Orton wins the Men’s Elimination Chamber and punches his ticket to WrestleMania 42. Strong match. Solid work. But most of us saw it coming.

CM Punk vs Finn Bálor for the World Heavyweight Championship. Good. Physical. Clean. Also predictable.

The mystery crate finally opens… and out comes Danhausen. Chicago had a reaction, but was it the reaction WWE wanted?

And then the big one.

The masked man reveal. Seth Rollins. That’s the moment that actually changed the energy of the night. That’s the moment that saved this from being just another safe, road-to-Mania show.

I gave it a B minus. Not terrible. Not legendary. Just too predictable until the chaos hit.

WWE SmackDown delivered one of the most controversial reveals of 2026 as the masked man was finally unmasked… and fans are NOT happy. After a mysterious backstage attack took out Jey Uso before the show, Nick Aldis had to name a replacement for the Men’s Elimination Chamber match. That led to Logan Paul vs Jacob Fatu in the main event, with Drew McIntyre looming and chaos erupting at ringside.

The masked attacker interfered, Austin Theory got involved, and when the hood came off the internet exploded. Some are calling it lame. Some are calling it pointless. I think it’s a trick.
