Wrestling Watchalong with Justin Kace

The Intercontinental Championship has been home to some of the greatest wrestlers, greatest matches, and greatest moments in WWE history. Long before it became a stepping stone to the World Championship, the Intercontinental Title was a championship you had to earn—and carrying it meant you were one of the best wrestlers in the company.

In this episode of Watchalong with Justin Kace, we're taking a look at the Greatest Intercontinental Champions of All Time and the men who helped make this championship one of the most prestigious titles in professional wrestling.

From the championship's very beginning with Pat Patterson, to the legendary reign of Mr. Perfect, to Bret "Hitman" Hart and the incredible wrestlers who followed, we're looking at what made these champions special, what they accomplished with the title, and how they helped shape the legacy of the Intercontinental Championship.

This isn't just about how many times somebody held the belt. It's about what they did with it.

The matches.

The rivalries.

The moments.

The wrestlers who made that championship feel important every time it was defended.

And I already know this one is going to start some arguments.

Because there are a LOT of great Intercontinental Champions, and your favorite might not be the same as mine.

The First TLC Match: When Wrestling Lost Control

On August 27, 2000, at SummerSlam, WWE changed the wrestling world forever.

Three legendary tag teams stepped into the ring — The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boyz, and Edge & Christian — and created something fans had never seen before. What started as a ladder match evolved into something far more dangerous: a chaotic war involving tables, ladders, chairs, and moments that pushed the limits of what professional wrestling could be.

From Jeff Hardy’s unbelievable risks to Edge’s iconic spear from the ladder, from Bubba Ray Dudley’s devastating table spots to Christian and D-Von fighting through the madness, this match became the blueprint for an entire generation of hardcore wrestling.

But behind the excitement was a question that would follow wrestling for years:

Did wrestling lose control… or did it create something unforgettable?

Join Watchalong with Justin Kace as we revisit the first-ever TLC Match and explore the story, the risks, the rivalries, and the legacy of one of the most influential matches in WWE history.
