The EPA Built a Wall to Contain the Lead at Ithaca Falls. Will the Pollution Ever Be Completely Removed?

Efforts to clean up the lead at Ithaca Falls have gone on for almost 20 years, and now the EPA is near completing a limestone wall to contain the pollutants. Once that wall is done, the site will be fully under the care of the New York Department of Environmental Conservation.

We explore the past remediation efforts to contextualize what this latest effort to address lead pollution at Ithaca Falls means. And we take a hard look at the likelihood of whether the lead pollution will every be completely removed at one of the waterfalls that makes Ithaca gorgeous.
