Writing Skills
Before developing writing skills, it is needed that you have worked on tactile, vestibular, and proprioceptive senses. The kid must be made comfortable with holding something in hand and then applying pressure.
The first activity is to develop hand-eye coordination along with some strength in the index and thumb. For this, you may use clay, and flour dough, and make the kid pat it. Also, make the kid cut the dough/clay string using plastic scissors. This will also develop a level of concentration too.
The next activity is to give guided lines on a sheet to trace. These must be given on a plan drawing sheet first, starting with giving sleeping, standing, slanting lines, and curves. Once the kid is comfortable then move to a bigger stencil notebook and start with the alphabet. Once the kid starts to write on the bigger stencil then move to a regular notebook.
Note: you may use thick pencil if the kid has gripping issues.
Patience is the key; you might need to hand-hold the kid for a while and then gradually withdraw.
