After 26 years, a locally owned Bryan restaurant is closing. 

Memories of Burger House were shared Wednesday morning (May 27) on WTAW's The Infomaniacs.

The newest Infomaniac, Tucker Young, shared a recent visit when he went to order the specialty Korean beef sandwich called a bulgogi and he had to wait one hour in line.

Young also quoted a recent article in the Houston Chronicle written by Consolidated High School and 
Texas A&M graduate Gwen Howerton. Her article brought up the restaurant's slogan "the best food for the best people" then wrote "where will the best people eat now?"

While Saturday (May 30) is their last day, the Burger House BCS Facebook page has a list of menu items that are not available...including the bulgogi sandwich.

The Infomaniacs Scott DeLucia recalled before Burger House, the building on South College was a Shipley's Do-Nuts before they moved to their current location at Villa Maria and Cavitt.

The day after WTAW's Scott DeLucia announces he is retiring after 59 years, he introduces the newest member of The Infomaniacs morning show.

Returning to Bryan Broadcasting is Tucker "Frito" Young.

It is a full circle moment for Tucker, who joined Bryan Broadcasting as a WTAW News intern in 2003.

He picked up the "Frito" moniker after becoming part of the Candy 95 morning show in 2005.

In 2022, Tucker went to San Antonio and to Houston in 2025 to lead morning shows.

After returning to Bryan/College Station in April 2026, Scott shared his pending retirement with Tucker and asked if he was interested in joining The Infomaniacs.

When Tucker made his debut Wednesday morning (May 27) on The Infomaniacs, he said "I was excited by the opportunity, mostly because growing up in College Station and Bryan and around the area, if you listen to radio, you would listen to you (Scott) and Jay and Tom and everybody else. So this is kind of like being on the radio show of record for the Brazos Valley."

Business at the May meetings of the Texas A&M system board of regents included a report on the system's compliance with the state law banning programs dealing with DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion). The chairman of the regents audit committee Mike Hernandez of Ft. Worth and the system's chief auditor Amanda Dotson said the system will be employing state direction on the system's processes. Dotson says the system received notable violations, which she described as not the most severe that the state could have issued. And Hernandez told system CEO's he appreciated how they have complied with the state's DEI ban.

Among regents votes, was approving the system's capital plan for fiscal years 2027 through 2031. Documents from the system shows at the flagship campus, over the next five years there are 15 new capital projects totaling $588 million dollars. Eight of the 15 involves a total of $100 million dollars of infrastructure. Another $22 million will be going into Evans Library, renovating the sixth floor starting next year and the second floor the following year. There is a $220 million dollar engineering education and research complex that is slated to start in 2028 along with a $135 million dollar west campus vivarium...which the A&M website says provides for the procurement, housing, and care of laboratory animals.

The same A&M system document shows four capital needs on the flagship that are unfunded...$295 million dollars for the first phase of housing on west campus, $150 million for a west campus student services and library building, $100 million for Duncan dining hall, and $75 million for a ninth parking garage.

The regents gave the green light to proceed with three building projects in Brazos County...a $30 million dollar exterior renovation of A&M's 112 year old academic building, a $30 million dollar expansion of the satellite utility plant #1, and a $14 million dollar hangar at the RELLIS campus that is part of the Bush Combat Development Center.

The next step is taken by the College Station city council to replace a public works center that has been in operation since 1978.

Following a more than one hour discussion during the council's May 18th meeting, direction was given to build...subject to acquiring the land...behind the College Station ISD transportation center on Rock Prairie Road.

Capital projects director Jennifer Cain expected this will take care of city needs for at least the next ten years.Cain said money has been budgeted for the nearly $50 million dollar project.

City manager Bryan Woods says public works employees will be involved in the design planning, like employees in past building projects. He also says staff may be back with other ideas for the project.

The leader of WTAW Radio's The Infomaniacs morning show announces his retirement.

Scott DeLucia told listeners Tuesday morning (May 26) that his last day is Friday, June 5th.

"It's been the tradition of the show generally that when one of us leaves to go do something different or not do anything at all we kind of announce it ahead of time. And so today it's my turn."

Scott went on to say "I figure if I've done it for 59 years it's probably enough", adding "everything's fine, my health is fine, my wife's health is fine, we're just deciding that it's time to go enjoy the rest of our life that won't include getting up at 4:20 in the morning. So we're going to do that."

Also speaking was Gold Star Mother Marykay Edwards. She lost her son, Army specialist William "Billy" Edwards in August 2007, about three months after he was deployed to Iraq.

This podcast contains comments from College Station ISD superintendent Tim Harkrider during the May 19, 2026 CSISD school board meeting.

While graduates and family members of College Station ISD's Consolidated and College Station High Schools gathered at Reed Arena, the Consol auditorium was the setting of commencement Friday morning (May 22) for softball players at Pearland High School.

CSISD superintendent Tim Harkrider told school board members Tuesday night (May 19) that Pearland ISD made the request because the softball team was state semifinal games at Consol.

Harkrider said Consol principal Gwen Elder took care of the request, which included accommodating about 100 people.

Harkrider also reported that Consol and College Station High Schools hosted 14 softball and baseball playoff series at new fields this year. That earned CSISD a profit of about $25,000 dollars.
