Alex Garland isn't afraid to make surprising and novel choices. For instance his new film "Men" casts said gender as a horrifying force of nature, single-mindedly focused on gratifying their wants, desires, and needs at the expense of anyone who stands in their way, and utilizing the powers of fear and intimidation to do so! Where does he come up with this stuff?

"Prisoners of the Ghostland" is the topic of this week's episode of WTFAWTA. Chock full of bizarre visuals, strange plot turns, and Nicolas Cage being extra Nicolas Cagey, the film is the sum of its parts- for better or worse.  

This week we discuss Volume 1 of David Lapham's sprawling crime noir universe, "Stray Bullets". At a glance, one might make the comparison to Frank Miller's "Sin City" series, but once in the thick of Lapham's masterful storytelling you quickly recognize the heart, humor, and humanist bent he applies to his seedy crime noir, and thus- the horror of it all.

Director Sam Raimi returns to the world of Marvel (and cinema in general) with the 28th film (GoOd GoOgLy MoOgLy) in the Marvel cinematic universe which finds Doctor Stephen Strange plunged into the multiverse, The Scarlet Witch plunged into villainy, and a light post plunged into an eyeball in what one cinema-goer (me) says made him throw up into his popcorn. 

The latest Robert Eggers film is here! An epic viking revenge thriller, It stars Alexander Skarsgård as Amleth, Anya Taylor-Joy as Olga of The Birch Forest, Ethan Hawke as King Aurvandill, Nicole Kidman as Queen Gudrún, Claes Bang as Fjolnir The Brotherless and Willem Dafoe as himself. 

Michael Mann's 1983 film nearly defies categorization. Is it a horror film? an action adventure picture? Or is it an original IP in the superhero genre? The answer, however strange it may be, is a resounding "yes". 

This week on an all new episode of WTFAWTA, we're talking about Ti West's "X" one of the best horror films in recent memory. it follows a group of young ambitious pornographers who are faced with the hard realities of aging. Ironically, they won't actually grow old themselves...

This week we discuss the documentary film "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". It chronicles the real life events surrounding the downfall of rising star Ezra Miller, an actor whose battle with a swirling black mass of demonic energy made national headlines this past March when the demon lurking in his soul attacked a karaoke singer, a dart-player, and forced him to threaten to bury a man and his slut wife.
