  • Band of Georges: Time Will Tell
    Time Will Tell by George.
From Volume I Side A of the Band of Georges.
    Composed 29th April 1982.
    Recorded May 1986.
    Mixed October 1986.
    Lifted from cassette March 2025.
    Copyright © 1982 Explicit Music.
    Copyright ℗ 2025 Wud Records.
    Fun Facts:
George hates this song and cannot/will not listen to it.
George sat next to his friend Giles in a maths lesson at school and showed him the lyrics a day or so after writing them.
Giles thought they were not very good, and "a bit like Foreigner."
Giles and George formed a new wave band with a pair of drummers in the sixth form.
They called their outfit Dandini Meets the Garden Gnomes.

  • Band of Georges: Kiestevsanval Lady
    Kiestevsanval Lady by George.
From Volume I Side A of the Band of Georges.
    Composed 21st December 1981.
    Recorded May 1986.
    Mixed October 1986.
    Lifted from cassette March 2025.
    Copyright © 1981 Explicit Music.
    Copyright ℗ 2025 Wud Records.
Kiestevsanval is an imaginary utopian place, a city perhaps.
The name came from the combined ends and beginnings of the names of two girls George knew at school.
It was inspired by a different girl who was new to the school in the fifth form.
She was in George's class at school.
She was rather fun and friendly and her name was Anne.
Some of George's father's secret and most esoteric chords are here and there.
The Em9 and Dmaj7 came from Eric Satie's Gymnopedie no. 1.
George had only been playing guitar for about a month or so when he composed this.

    Not as Grey by George.

    Composed circa 6th April 1982.
    Updated th December 1985.
    Recorded May 1986.
    Mixed October 1986.

    Fun Facts:
George hates this song and cannot/will not listen to it.
    The chorus is Dm - Bb - C - F - Dm - Bb - G7 - A7.
Most of the guitar is definitive and composed.
The rhythm guitar was played on George's first guitar.
It was an old Kay Les Paul copy, which was stolen from an ex-girlfriend's garage when he was staying in London in the summer of 1990 after Alien Heat had split.
This song was composed around the same time as George and Pok were trying to figure out their version of California Dreaming for the school House Music competition.

  • Laughing Sun: Young Light
    Young Light by Laughing Sun
    Words and music by S.Miller
    This arrangement by Laughing Sun
Recorded 26th September 1985 at 31 Cowick Lane, Exeter, UK
    Pok: vocals, guitar
    George Davies: bass, vocals
    YOUNG LIGHT
When I’m close to you like this
What is it that I miss?
    Always takes so many years
    Meanwhile your conscience sneers
    To be always there
    Always there
Silver dust is in your hair
    You can become aware
You can tell a sunset by the way she moves her eyes
You can’t catch the wind but you sure can try
    You can try
    Try
    Try
    Young Light
    Young Light
You will always be turned on for me
    Young Light
    I hear you calling me
You will always be turned on for us

  • Laughing Sun: Johnny Wake Up
Johnny Wake Up by Laughing Sun
    Words and music by S.Miller
    This arrangement by Laughing Sun
Recorded 26th September 1985 at 31 Cowick Lane, Exeter, UK
    Pok: vocals, bass
    George Davies: guitar, vocals
    JOHNNY WAKE UP
Johnny wake up and go to school
You’ll be late and made a fool
Some day soon you’ll be a big towering man
You can walk all over this aching land
The others used to say it would be all right
If we all put our feet into the grave
Get your books or get your gun
    I don’t mind which, it’s either one
Taught to be strangled, beauty obscured
    Difficult natures are not preferred
And what we gained was what we thought we’d lost
And who came after were beyond the cost
Saints and sinners, lovers and friends
When shall we be back together again?
And what we gained was what we thought we’d lost
And who came after were beyond the cost
Saints and sinners, lovers and friends
When shall we be back together again?

  • Laughing Sun: Don't Let It Pass You By
Don't Let It Pass You By by Laughing Sun
    Words and music by S.Miller
    This arrangement by Laughing Sun
Recorded 26th September 1985 at 31 Cowick Lane, Exeter, UK
    Pok: vocals, guitar
    George Davies: guitar, vocals
    Marc Greatorex: bass
DON’T LET IT PASS YOU BY
Don’t get the blues, go slow mamma
Just let them pass you by
    It’s happening, it’s happening
Don’t let those blues fool ya mamma
Just let them pass you by
    That’s what they’re there for
    That’s what they’re there for
Open up your heart and let it all flow
Because you know sometimes you just got to let it all go
All those times spent in your brain
    Was only there to compensate
‘Cos all the time the way was waiting
You just have to grab a hold
Of the way, of the way
    The sway, yes today
What is today is never tomorrow
And who is gone may only follow
Take hold of my hand till the morning comes
New age come before you wake up
    When you wake up
    When you wake
    Up
