Devan Shimoyama is a visual artist who works primarily in painting and self-portraiture, with works inspired as much by classical mythology as by the culture of his youth. Devan Shimoyama will present new work in his regional debut, SHIFT at Rowan University Art Gallery & Museum. This solo exhibition runs January 26 to March 21. Through his depictions of the queer Black male form, Shimoyama investigates the politics of queer culture while navigating his own personal narratives.

Devan joins the show to talk about his art exhibit, as well as the context of his artistry.

Sam Rise is the Director of Community Engagement at the Freedom Side School. Terrell Woolfolk is the Director of Community and Family Partnerships. The Freedom Side School provides free K-5 education to children impacted by incarceration, and whose mission is to be a place where they teach love, learn freedom and practice healing justice.

They joined Dr. Peterson for this week's Tuesday teach-in segment to discuss what the Freedom Side School is, and their programs.

She has almost a decade of experience supporting individuals through emotional transitions, trauma, and relationship challenges. She helps audiences recognize the signs of codependency, and most importantly, show them how to begin breaking the cycle.

She joined Dr. Peterson to discuss National Codependency Awareness month.
