As one of the few Black women to host a national primetime news program bringing together diverse voices to debate the day’s biggest stories, Ms. Phillip has expanded her platform with the release of her debut book — “A Dream Deferred: Jesse Jackson and the Fight for Black Political Power”.

Kyle Ross is the Policy Analyst in Inclusive Economy at the Center for American Progress. He joined Dr. Peterson to discuss SNAP running out of funding this weekend and Trump’s refusal to release emergency funds to keep the program running.

Julia Cadwallender is the Managing Director at Read by 4th. Dr. Nyshawana Francis-Thompson is the Chief of Curriculum and Instruction at the School District of Philadelphia. They both joined Dr. Peterson for this month's Philly Reads segment to share how families can prepare for report card conferences coming up, giving some tips for families about how to best partner with teachers to understand their child’s progress.

On The Midday Break Room, Sara Lomax narrated a panel featuring members from the network of URL Media (Uplift, Respect, Love): a media organization that is dedicated to providing more economic viability for media organizations serving Black and Brown communities.

The panel included S. Mitra Kalita, the co-founder of URL Media. Garry Pierre-Pierre, the founder and publisher of The Haitian Times, a leading publication that bridges the Haitian diaspora and highlights issues impacting global Black communities. Levi Rickert, the editor and publisher of Tribal Business News and the founder, publisher, and editor of Native News Online. And Krystal Villeda, the Chief Operating Officer of “Pulso”, a nonprofit media outlet whose mission is to increase the political power of the projected 36 million eligible Latino voters in the United States.

During the panel, they all discussed the state of Black and Brown communities under this current political regime, and what their organizations are doing to further assist and uplift their communities.
