Brandon Scott is a We Walk PHL walk leader at Lloyd Hall and CEO/Co-Founder of The 5 Mile Club, along with his twin brother Brian. Chinere Sha-near Wright, a West Philadelphia native, is a We Walk PHL walk leader for Malcolm X Park and actively promotes health and community engagement as a key member of the Friends of Malcolm X Park.

They all join the show to further discuss the "We Walk PHL" Program: a free walking group that meets several times per week at various public parks. We Walk PHL seeks to promote positive health outcomes, increase use of Philadelphia’s park system, and create opportunities for people to pursue fitness goals while meeting their neighbors.

Ernest Crim III is an Anti-Racist Educator and hate crime survivor who uses (Black) historical narratives to empower and educate families and train educators through an equitable lens. Mike Africa Jr. is an activist, author, and prominent member of the MOVE organization, deeply connected to the 1985 MOVE bombing in Philadelphia. Born in a jail cell to MOVE members Mike Africa Sr. and Debbie Africa—both imprisoned as part of the MOVE Nine after a 1978 police confrontation—Mike Jr. was just six years old when Philadelphia police dropped a bomb on MOVE’s West Philadelphia home on May 13, 1985. The resulting fire killed 11 people, including five children, and destroyed 61 homes .

Ernest & Mike join the show to futher talk about the MOVE Bombing in Philadelphia. The MOVE bombing occurred on May 13, 1985, in West Philadelphia, when police attempted to evict members of the Black liberation group MOVE from their rowhouse at 6221 Osage Avenue. After a standoff, police dropped a bomb from a helicopter onto the home, which was fortified and reportedly contained weapons. The resulting explosion caused a fire that city officials allowed to burn, destroying 61 homes in the neighborhood. Eleven people in the MOVE house were killed, including five children. The bombing and fire left more than 250 people homeless and remains one of the most controversial episodes of urban policing in U.S. history. No city officials faced criminal charges, though the city eventually paid civil damages to survivors

Michael Coard is a Criminal Defense Attorney, Activist, and WURD radio host of “The Radio Courtroom” Saturdays at 1 p.m. Michael has more than 15 years of trial experience, and as many years in his work to break barriers that discriminate and disenfranchise citizens in the African American Community.

Michael joins the show to l talk about the P. Diddy trial from the standpoint of what it could mean for P. Diddy if he is found guilty.

Gwendolyn V. Jenkins joins the show. She is President and CEO of The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation. She talks to us about a financial literacy completion event with partner Cooper Medical of Rowan University's JUMP High Program.

Mike Africa Jr. joins the show. On the 40th anniversary of the tragic MOVE bombing, Mike talks to us about the trauma of what happened, the history of the moment, and where we go from here.

Patricia Wilson Aden is the President and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, which leads and strengthens the voices of the region’s diverse cultural ecosystem - including museums, community art centers, historical sites and more. Ariel Shelton is the co-executive director of Culture Works of Greater Philadelphia. LaNeshe Miller-White is the Philadelphia Culture Fund Board President, whose organization, Philadelphia Young Playwrights, is directly being affected by federal cuts to Philadelphia's arts community.

Over the weekend, NEA pulled back money it had already awarded from hundreds, perhaps thousands, of arts organizations across the country. In many cases, that money has already been spent. In its emails to would-be recipients, the NEA stated that its funding guidelines have been changed “as prioritized by the President” and it would not honor previous agreements with organizations it claims fall outside those priorities. The NEA itself has been threatened with elimination in a preliminary 2026 federal budget proposed by the administration of President Donald Trump.

Dr. Reynaldo Anderson serves as an Associate Professor of Africology and African American Studies at Temple University in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and is the Executive Director and Co-founder of the Black Speculative Arts Movement (BSAM), a network of Artists, Curators, intellectuals, and Activists. Dr. Aaron Smith is the assistant professor of Africology and African American Studies at Temple University.

They both join the show to talk about an event Temple is having on May 16th, 2025: " Conversation with Funk Master George Clinton of Parliament Funkadelic: The AfroFuturist of Funk". The students and staff of the Department of Africology and African American Studies are welcoming George Clinton, founder of the legendary funk band Parliament Funkadelic. George Clinton and Dr. Anderson will discuss of Funk music and its expansion into Afro Futurism. The event will include performing and visual arts, and literature. Dr. Anderson will frame his conversation with Funk Master and Creator of Parliament Funkadelic around the trajectory of the Funk R & B genre’s innovation from the late 1960’s and beyond and its ability to narrate The Black Experience through its evolution.
