The 37th Episode of our WV on the DOT podcast features Randall Reid-Smith, Commissioner of the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History, and Joe Geiger, Director of Archives and History, with a preview of some of the historical markers you can read about in the new book “Signs of the Times.” West Virginia’s Highway Historical Marker Program tells complex stories in only 11 lines of type; you see the signs on roadsides, courthouse lawns, or any place someone cared enough to memorialize a moment of West Virginia’s history. Just like so many of the things West Virginia is doing now to move itself forward, teamwork between state agencies makes this program go and the Department of Transportation couldn’t be prouder of our fellow agency for their work on this new book.
