In early December the WWE signed 15 college athletes, including some with crazy social media followings to NIL contracts. NIL stands for Name, Image, Likeness. The NCAA recently passed into effect new rules allowing college athletes to monetize their name, image and likeness. Until this announcement businesses were not allowed to approach a college athlete to endorse products or companies, etc. WWE immediately capitalized and even went as far as rebranding NIL for their own purposes…dubbing it Next In Line. WWE is looking to use these new rules from the NCAA to pipeline developmental talent into their roster….but what does this mean to you, the independent pro wrestler?
