A life ring from the Edmund Fitzgerald, the Great Lakes freighter that sank 50 years ago, will be auctioned in Detroit this month. The orange life ring washed onto the Lake Superior shore after the Fitzgerald sank off the coast of Whitefish Bay on November 10th, 1975. Joe Walker, President of DuMouchelles in downtown Detroit, talked with WWJ's Jay Dennis about the auction.

The Zekelman Holocaust Center in Farmington Hills hosted a special talk with an author of a book that highlights a WWII rescue story that spans from Austria to India. Vinay Gupta is the author of "A Rescue in Vienna." It tells the story of Gupta's grandfather who went to Vienna for a medical procedure in 1938. He met six Jewish families at the hospital and devised a plan to get to them to India, to escape Nazi persecution. Gupta spoke live with WWJ's Kyle Kimball.

Operation Good Cheer flew off the runway at Oakland County International Airport this weekend.
