I don't normally do Christmas shows, but since this hasn't been a normal year, I thought I'd try and break my speed record for recording, mixing and publishing, and what you've got here is the result: A somewhat half-baked edtion of The Forge.

It's even more random than usual, since the links were literally right off the top of my head and done as quickly as possible.

There'll also be a lot of new stuff, since the mission here at The Forge is to help get some new stuff into your ears.

When I started The Wyrd Ways Rock Show, there was really nothing on the radio or TV covering Hard Rock and Metal. Since then, things have improved. with Primordial Radio (so good I bought part of the company!) getting the balance mostly right.

That said, they don't really do much with the Heavier end.  Which is fair enough when you consider that Pete, their music co-ordinator isn't really into the PROPER Heavy stuff, and based on that, he doesn't really have the industry contacts in that area. Neither do Moose or Dewsbury, for the same reason. Shorty seems to be more into Pop Punk, so... you get the picture.

That's not a negative criticism, by the way, it's just the way things are.  Plus, there's only so many hours in the day, so even if he was as immersed in this stuff as he would need to be, he wouldn't have the time. Obviously Primordial isn't the only Rock/Metal radio station, but it is the one with the least amount of Old Man Balls being played (you know what I mean - pretty much anything played on Planet Rock or Absolute Classic Rock).  So since they've got a lot of the Rock and Mainstream stuff covered, I'm going heavier.

Basically, compare Download to Bloodstock.  If they're going to be Download, I'll be Bloodstock.

So let's do it!

Let's try this again, shall we?  Now the old mental health is not so bad (even though I am still... erm... unbusy, so if anyone's got any jobs going, let me know!), I thought it was time to resurrect this whole podcast thing.  Believe it or not, this one's been brewing since March, so with a few tweaks, it's now ready.

Every Wednesday on Moose's breakfast show on Primordial Radio, he runs One Word Wednesday BIngo, where those listening attempt to guess some songs from single word clues. We do this to attempt to win the covetted Hive Mind badge. Someone else, chosen at random from the entries gets to pick the next week's tracks.

In the drivetime show, Dewsbury gives his own take, and more often than not gets a very low score (one point for the correct artist, one point for the correct song). Honestly, I don't normally do much better. Usually worse.

Anyway. if you fancy having a go at next week's, based on what you hear on this podcast, here's what you do:

Which is an excellent place, by the way. Didn't get to go in, but there's a club there by the name of Opium that definitely appears to have the right attitude, going by it's poster.

The first show of 2019, featuring some PROPER Heavy Metal, following in the footsteps of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show. With a few names dropping off during my lay off, I realized it was time to get this thing going again properly. Accept no substitute.

The Forge prevails.

Prepare for a dangerous journey through the brain of a tired presenter, late at night after being on his own at home all day with no one to talk to.  Except for the cats.  Obviously there's some cracking tunage, as there always is on The Forge, but... oh I don't half ramble on!

Honestly, I just talked about whatever came into my head between songs.  That's what podcasts are supposed to be, aren't they?  If you just wanted music, you could have listened to Sp**ify (Don't do that!  They screw over the artists!  Do you realize how many plays someone needs to get a single penny?!).
