In an ongoing 'In The Know with Nova Nurses' series as part of the partnership with the Fitzpatrick College of Nursing and WXVU, Senior Villanova nursing students Alex Lourenso and Jackie Arminio produced three PSA's on the Top Three Health Concerns on College Campuses.

This week in Villanova sports: Ukrainian tennis player, Valieriia Kornieva, shared her and her family’s struggles of the past few months as war continues in her home country. Softball went 4-0 with a win over UPenn and a three-game sweep of Georgetown. Baseball also had a successful weekend, with a 2-1 home series win over Butler. Both men’s and women’s track and field traveled to Florida for the Hurricane Invite where multiple athletes recorded season and personal bests. Women’s tennis picked up two big wins as they approach the conference tournament in two weeks, while men’s tennis fell to Marquette, 4-3, and looks to regain some momentum before postseason play. Both the men’s and women’s hockey teams were featured in this week’s issues following their successful seasons this year. Women’s Lacrosse fell to Marquette, 19-14, and have three games remaining before the conference post season. Rounding out the sports coverage, Villanova swimmer, Maggie Kleinsmith, wrote an article about UPenn swimmer Lia Thomas who transitioned last season and this year, started competing as a women, sparking debates surrounding transgender athletes and their eligibiltiy to compete.

This week on opinion: Pro and con perspectives on test optional admissions, written by Kai Da Luz and Audrey Ryan respectively. Abby Faeth discussed the role of greek life on campus, reflecting on her own personal experience with recruitment and the pros and cons of participating in a sorority/ fraternity. Lauryn Hayes wrote about the anxieties students face about internships prospects and how the Career Center can alleviate some of these stressors. Zoë Kim expressed the need for greater bolder legislation with respect to gun control following Sacramento’s mass shooting. Lindsay Gallagher called for dividing CLAS into separate schools for students pursuing a BA or BS, citing the numerous curriculum and advising mishaps that come with this being a combined school.

In Villanova news, the University hosted Admitted Students Day, and Caitlyn Foley talked to Title IX coordinator Ryan Rost about the University’s efforts for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Celia Deane-Drummond won the University’s Civitas Dei medal, awarded to “Catholics who have made exemplary contributions to the Catholic intellectual tradition and the pursuit of truth, beauty and goodness.” The Philly Justice Project hosted an event in support of India Spellman, a currently incarcerated person it believes to be wrongfully convicted. The University also hosted VU Pride Week, and the African-Caribbean Villanovans club hosted its first ever VCB Festival.

In the culture section this week: The Villanovan’s own Culture editor sat down with Mark Wahlberg to discuss his upcoming movie “Father Stu.” Brendan Coughlin talked to the Club Tennis team about their trek to Nationals in Orlando. Multiple on-campus events were covered like Chloe Miller’s article on Villanova’s annual Greek Week and Emma Cahill’s piece on Villanova’s Sustainability Committee’s Wildcat Thrift shop event where students could sell and buy clothes. Eric white attended and wrote on VTV’s production of The Villy’s, Villanova’s second annual student film showing. The culture sections articles concluded with a preview from Julia O’Keefe on Club Swim’s upcoming fundraiser that will support Swim Across America.
