We cannot save ourselves. God does the work, and therefore there is confidence and hope.

When we follow Jesus, we also must engage his enemies. We know that our own selfishness is a powerful and persistent enemy, and Jesus teaches how to put that enemy to death. But, there are also external enemies to Jesus – this world’s systems and the evil one himself. Today we look at how God equips us for this kind of spiritual warfare.

Are any sufferings as difficult as betrayal? Not only do we lose an  intimate friend, but that friend makes themself our enemy, using the  secrets of our friendship as weapons against us. Jesus knows exactly  what that feels like. Today we see it in David’s life through Psalm 55.
