The gals talk beer, dads, art projects, regeneration, food pantry protein, and more.
The conversation is quiet and casual. Crayons and horses.

A look back. A look ahead. We play a few clips & invite you to guess what the gals are talking about....
Omens, signs, feelings of dread and finally Helene.
Then on to 2025!
Trigger warning--not for the squeamish or nervous. Lots to be offended or upset by. Yes, it's dark in Appalachia. Take note.

Wyrd Mountain Gals Show
Episode airs Sunday 12-15-24 7PM EST
Plans are forming. Lists are being made. Cards are being searched out and signed. The old neighborhood has a new church service & Byron can't wait to attend. We invite you to come listen and find out about the rest of it for yourself.
We hope you enjoy this latest episode & want you to know that your comments, stories and donations have meant so much. Things are not back to normal in our region yet and there is still a lot of need, and you are still rising to answer the call as you can. Thank you!

Episode airs: Sunday 12-8-24 7pm EST
The gals have a laid-back recorded Zoom meeting this week in which we learn that Byron's starting to watch Dune Prophecy. Alicia is eager to geek out with her about it & off they go.. Both agree that the sex detracts from the somewhat-complicated storyline. We get caught up on the Temple's latest goings-on.
Of which we are. Grateful that is. Thanks to you we've been here chatting away for a long time now. Thanks to our listeners, many people who survived Helene go to eat, fuel up their car, be warm. We notice and appreciate it more than words car convey. So thanks not only for listening, but for being there when we need you!
Please keep sharing with your friends who can handle it. :-)

Phantasmagoria: a bizarre or fantastic combination, collection, or assemblage.
From Google: Prolonged stress can affect DNA by causing epigenetic changes, which are modifications to the DNA that don't alter the genetic sequence itself but can influence how genes are expressed, potentially leading to changes in behavior and health outcomes due to the altered gene activity; this is primarily achieved through the influence of stress hormones like cortisol on DNA methylation pattern.

The Wyrd Mountain Gals Show
This episode finds the gals inching closer to whatever normal used to be. It feels vaguely familiar and also a little unsettling to be recording their plans for the upcoming holiday. They talk about the Revelator deck & how customized it feels. We get some specific advice from Byron about the cards and learn that she'll be back at Asheville Raven and Crone to read on Tuesday afternoons starting this week*. Their conversation is easy-going for the most part. You can tell they are glad to remember days gone by.
Cartomancy: the practice of using a deck of cards for fortune-telling or divination.
He's like the government, he's listening.
*It's probably a good idea to call and make a reservation if you want Byron to read for you. (828) 424-7868
Thanks for Listening!!

The gals are in a fairly good mood. Maybe because they've gotten enough sleep (listening to the podcast!). They're getting ready for the upcoming manic week. There's not too much kvetching, but lots of static on the audio...
Hope you like it!
Thank you for sharing this among your friends. We really appreciate it!

Lyrics
Well I am death, none can tell
Whoa, death someone would pray
My Mother came to my bed
Well my head is warm, my feet are cold
Oh, death how you're treatin' me
Well you're hurtin' my body
Oh death please consider my age
My wealth is all at your command
Oh the young, the rich or poor
No wealth, no ruin, no silver no gold
O, death
Wyrd Mountain Gals
This episode finds the gals cutting up in the temple, reminiscing about everything from Christmas to sweet memories of their fathers. Byron talks a bit about an upcoming trip. It seems they are acclimating to the new state of their world since Helene brought the region to it's knees. The break in the day to record the show is both a relief and a place to kvetch for them.
WARNING! As usual, it's raw & there are some subjects and some words that could get you in trouble at work or in front of most kids.
