The Xbox Series S will not run Xbox Series X versions of backward compatible games. A recent story by VGC previously reported on by Digital Foundry has been confirmed by Microsoft. In short, the Xbox Series S will not be able to play any “enhanced for Series X” games. It will instead run the Xbox One S versions with some slight upgrades. It’s a weird limitation to be sure considering the Xbox Series X will be able to play next-gen titles at 1440p. To make matters worse the titles and naming conventions are making it easy to get things twisted and even major outlets are taking heat for reporting on the differences between the Xbox Series X, Series S, One S, and One X. Not us though, we have explained it perfectly....cough. Anyways, keep watching Inside Gaming Daily and we’ll see you tomorrow!
