Intro

Welcome to another DragonLance Saga episode. Today I am playing an XD20 one-shot Dragonlance game. It is Bracha, Fierswelt the 2nd and my name is Adam. I would like to welcome my players and allow them to introduce their characters:: (list your name and character name/race/class)

Setup

Lord Soth needs a piece of Takhisis Tear. ⅔ have been recovered already. The Late Lord Viranesh has the third piece. It has been a family heirloom since the Age of Might. The tear allows the user to travel to the abyss. When his son found it, he bragged about it and word eventually traveled to Lord Soth. He wants Caradok to enter the abyss and collect Kitiara’s Soul. Caradok travels to Viranesh keep and kills all but the son, daughter and a hidden maid. Caradoc takes the son. Caradoc then travels to Kentrall Graveyard to a favored mausoleum, to conduct the ritual at sunrise. 

The heroes learn from Lord Viranesh’s daughter that the tale tells of the artifact being taken by the kingpriest and broken. Pieces were scattered among honorable knights of the rose, sword and crown. When united, one was to present it with the rising sun while making a sacrifice. This will open a portal to the abyss for Caradok. 

The heroes will have to ride out immediately to get to the graveyard in time. They arrive as the boy is about to be killed. There are skeleton warriors guarding them and skeletons defending it. They have three rounds before caradoc kills the boy.

Episode 1

* The Blue Lady’s War has ended. The Portal to the Abyss has been sealed with Raistlin Majere, Master of Past and Present inside. Lord Ariakan has been released from the High Clerist’s Tower, and the Knights of Solamnia had hoped he would join their order. Though the Dragon Armies have been defeated, there are still mercenary bands which control various regions throughout northern Ansalon, and war has devastated nearly every reach of the continent. The Silvanesti are slowly returning to fight Lorak’s Nightmare, and the Qualinesti are returning home, battling the remnant invader bands. And the Knights of Solamnia are reclaiming their keeps and dignity in Solamnia. It is, Bracha, Holmswelth the 11th, 359 AC.

* The heroes are enjoying a massive feast in Maelgoth after a day of celebration as the anniversary of the defeat of the Dragonarmies when a female runner is delivered by a guard to the center of the festivities. She is presented as Lady Viranesh, and relays the following:

* “Gentle lords and Ladies, I bring devastating news from the east. My father who fought valiantly in the War and fell to the Blue Dragonarmy as so many of his brothers in arms, tasked his son, my brother with reclaiming his keep and bringing honor and safety to his household and lands.”

* Lord Fullgrate butts in from the head table.

* “My dear sweet girl, as you can plainly see, tonight is a night of celebration. I beg you, get to the point.”

* Gunthar Uth Wistan stands, slamming his fist on the table.

* “Lord Fullgrate, perhaps the drink has affected your politeness and courtesy.
