Summary: Maggie hears Dana’s message, and fear steps in, quick and cunning. Her mind goes straight to the worst. The cancer. Or Dana’s life or safety being under threat in some other, unthinkable way. Faceless abductors. Attackers who especially target her baby girl. But she reminds herself that the message could very well concern something much more ordinary than that, some problem any daughter might call her mother for.
