What is Taiwan's "2030 Bilingual Policy" actually achieving? Instead of playing sports or making art, kids are memorizing words, and schools feel forced to apply for projects just to grab government subsidies. Ironically, despite massive spending to bring foreign teachers into classrooms via projects, secondary school exams still focus on grammar traps rather than real speaking skills. Meanwhile, as we rush to hit English targets, our own native languages are fading at the same time.
