About the Speaker/講者
Serge Danylov is a deputy director of the Association of Middle East Studies (https://uames.org.ua/pro-nas/) AMES was involved many project in Crimea prior to 2014, such as research projects about the Crimean and Muslim identities and their transformations in Crimea as well as conflict prevention interventions in the local communities. From 2014 Serge was in charge of projects in Kherson region directed at increasing the resilience of the local communities against Russian propaganda and aggression, community building and development of the local self-government. Since then he has built a wide network of connections in the local communities, and still staying in touch with many people inside of the occupation.

Taras Pavlov was a full time mathematic instructor in Kyiv, Ukraine, until recently.

Taras reminds us that the Russia-Ukraine conflict started in 2013. Many decades before that, Ukraine has been a part of Soviet Union, so there is a great deal of understanding of how Russian cultural hegemony thinks within Ukraine today. This gives Ukraine an advantage in this conflict by knowing more about Russian than Russia does Ukrainian.

Learn how Ukrainian libertarian tendency before the war translates into its military effectiveness. Explore how this conflict's many dimensions such as technologies, media, and information are happening.

Finally, Taras reminds us that keeping humor is important for sanity in a war. At the same time, he asks us to think about what are the things that international community and individual can do to end this conflict?
