Ben Hongo, PGA

Director of Instruction

Ben joined the Kapalua Golf Team in 1989 and then helped open the Kapalua Golf Academy in 2000. He has become one of the most respected instructors in Hawaii. In addition to the multiple Teacher of the Year Awards, Ben has also recieved "Aloha Section PGA Youth Development Leader" in 2008 & 2013, "Aloha Section Horton Smith Award" in 2018, "One of Hawaii's Top Teachers" voted by Golf Digest three times (selected by his peers), and was named "Hawaii's Junior Golf Leader Award" in 2008.

In addition to his instructional work, Ben frequently joins Hawaii's weekly golf-focused radio show, The Golf Club Radio Show, as a guest.

Ben's extensive teaching knowledge and patient style appeals to golfers of all ages and skill levels. Ben's hobbies include fitness and sharpening his culinary skills while spending time with his wife and daughter.

Born in Japan, Ben is conversationally fluent in Japanese and his mild manner style lends itself well to golfers of all ages and skill levels.

Kelly Williams

Director of Sales and Marketing at Kapalua Golf

Oversees and manages Sales & Marketing efforts for The Plantation Course at Kapalua, The Bay Course at Kapalua, The Kapalua Golf Academy, The Kapalua Tennis Garden.

- Develops and executes strategic sales & marketing plans that effectively communicate overall facility sales goals, including strategic directions, key objectives, target segments, strategies, marketing & public relations and Troon programs on an ongoing basis.

- Direct contact and partner with The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, The Montage Kapalua, The Kapalua Villas, wholesalers, off property Sales Managers, and guests for golf tournaments, group outings, restaurant groups and major resort events.

- Develops sales & marketing strategies by leveraging corporate programs, industry best practices, revenue management and current trends in the marketplace.

- Marketing of events to keep guests informed and participating, and attracting prospective new guests

- Controls and manages website, e-newsletter management, and all social media platforms

- Works with General Manager and Head Professionals to enhance and continually improve resort operations responsible for assisting in the delivery of revenue to the facility.

- Prepares reports such as annual sales plans, monthly sales reports, annual goals, sales & marketing budgets and forecasts.

Shane is Sports Chiropractor and an expert in the treatment, screening and rehabilitation of golf injuries. He also has extensive post graduate training in the treatment of sports & soft tissue injuries including lower back & functional rehabilitation.

Shane has travelled with professional golfers on both the European & PGA Tours since 2009 and has worked with over 50 different tour pros. He consults to a number of elite amateur and professional golfers when he is off tour.

He enjoys working with athletes of all levels to help improve their physical performance enabling them to play their sport to the best of their ability. Shane continues to travel in his spare time, researching and studying the best methods to help people achieve their ultimate goal.

Born in Sacramento, Tom has been around golf at Haggin Oaks since the age of 5. Tom’s golf career was fostered through the Haggin Oaks Junior Golf Programs and through his father and five-time national PGA award winner, Ken Morton, Sr. Tom has played tournament golf since the Little Linker program at age 7, leading him to the Junior Golf Association of Northern California Tour and American Junior Golf Association events. His scholastic achievements and golf game enabled Tom to receive a golf scholarship to the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he played competitively for 4 years.

Liesbeth Pauwels, 29 and born in Bruges, started playing golf when her family decided to move to Spain at the age of 12 . It wasn’t until later once she found herself struggling to get gain distance from the tee (she’s petite) and experienced shoulder issues that her dream of becoming an lpga golfer evaporated. She was determined to learn more about the human body, was passionate about sport performance, and to try training in the gym to help get rid of the pain and improve driving distance, which it did! It’s in that exact moment she decided to fully dedicate her time to help other golfers. So after studying kinesiology at the university of British Colombia and being Jason Glass apprentice, she based herself in Holland and is operating on full force by guiding, inspiring and activating golfers to better health and body swing connection through golf specific movement coaching.
