Xpressed Records proudly presents the latest instalment in its annual compilation series, "Best of Xpressed Records 2024," curated and mixed by the talented South African artist LJ Pepper. Dedicated to highlighting the finest Afro House releases of the year, this collection celebrates the diversity and creativity that define the label’s sound while empowering women in the electronic music industry.

Since its inception, Xpressed Records has invited a female DJ to compile and mix the yearly retrospective, spotlighting the invaluable contributions of women in electronic music. Previous editions have featured renowned artists such as DESIREE, TENOCEANS, and SHAMISO. This year, LJ Pepper takes the helm, bringing her unique artistry and vibrant energy to the project.

LJ Pepper is a dynamic singer, songwriter, and DJ based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Though relatively new to the music scene, she has already made waves with her collaborations, most notably with the internationally acclaimed DJ duo Lemon & Herb on their EP, Edge. Her feature on the title track showcases her captivating voice and artistry, establishing her as one to watch in Afro House and beyond.

Tize unveils a captivating rework with his “One (Tize Remix)” of Walkman & Lyrik Shoxen’s original. Imbuing the track with his signature sonic depth, Tize weaves entrancing layers around Lyrik Shoxen’s soulful, haunting vocals, building a simmering tension that evolves into a magnetic flow. This remix is more than a reinterpretation, it’s an immersive journey through deep and resonant rhythms!

Lotus Mae makes a striking debut with Odyssey, her first single under Xpressed Records. Rooted in the deep, pulsating rhythms of Afro House, this track exudes an enigmatic energy that mirrors the artist’s journey. It offers a sonic exploration of the unknown, filled with shadowy undertones and fleeting moments of revelation.

For Lotus Mae, Odyssey is more than just a track; it is a celebration of discovery and the allure of stepping into the unseen.
