So I went to the store and actually purchased the Temu peel-and-stick bathroom towel wall covering that everyone keeps advertising online, and let me just say… I was highly disappointed. And yes, before anyone says it, I already know that when you shop on Temu you’re kind of rolling the dice. I went in understanding that. But even with that expectation, this product still fell short.

The biggest issue I noticed right away was the backing. The peel-and-stick portion does not come off cleanly. When you start peeling it, the sticky layer underneath actually pulls up with it, which defeats the entire purpose of it being peel and stick in the first place. If you’re not extremely careful, you’ll ruin it before it even touches your wall. That alone made me pause, because no product should be that fragile straight out of the box.

Another thing that bothered me was how different it looks in real life versus online. On Temu, it photographs beautifully. In person? Not so much. It doesn’t look nearly as realistic as advertised. This was one of my biggest pet peeves, because presentation matters, especially when you’re working on a bathroom or rental property where details show.

I also quickly realized that if you actually plan on putting these on your wall long-term, you’re going to need additional adhesive. Over time, they will come off on their own. That’s frustrating because the whole selling point is convenience. If I have to add glue, tape, or extra materials, then what exactly am I paying for? Now let’s talk about price. For the quality I received, the pricing was way too high.

I truly feel like this product was not worth what I paid. I could have paid much less elsewhere and gotten something sturdier. And honestly, that part is on me too, because I made the mistake of ordering too much without testing it first. I’ll be real with y’all — I jumped in headfirst. I had my mind set on this item, and I took the risk because the supply was limited. I didn’t know if they would have more later if I ended up liking it, so I bought multiple boxes all at once. 

Looking back, I wish I had slowed down and tested the waters first instead of putting all my money into it upfront. At this point, I’m not a fan. I’m going to see if I can get my money back, but if not, I’ll probably sell it online to someone who might still find use for it. For me, though, it just wasn’t it. The product is advertised far better than it actually is, and I think people deserve honesty before making these kinds of purchases. This is exactly why I focus so much on affordable budget shopping, especially when it comes to housing and repairs. I do a lot of work on rental property here in Florida, and I need products that actually hold up and do what they say they’re going to do.

 This one didn’t. So overall, yes, I’m disappointed. But you live and you learn. I wanted to show you guys firsthand what I actually received so you can make an informed decision. Hey family, it’s Ya Girl Renae here, and today on Keeping Up With Renae, I want to talk about something God pressed on my heart. He told me to stop using the phrase “I’m human” as an excuse every time I fell short. That hit me hard, because I realized I had been leaning on those two words as a crutch instead of leaning on the Spirit that God gave me. Now, let’s be real—yes, we are human. Yes, we live in fleshly bodies that crave comfort, pleasure, and sometimes the very things that can harm us. But once we’ve accepted Christ, He gives us His Spirit as a helper, a comforter, and a guide. The Spirit is not some distant, abstract thing—it’s the living presence of God inside us. When I caught myself saying, “Well, I’m only human,” what I was really doing was excusing behavior that I already knew I could fight with the help of the Spirit. God reminded me that nothing is too difficult when I trust Him. The Bible says in John 14:26 that the Holy Spirit is our advocate, teaching us all things and reminding us of everything Jesus taught. That means when temptation comes or when I feel weak, I don’t have to rely on me. I don’t have to shrug it off like, “Oh well, I’m just human.” No—God has given me power beyond myself. That doesn’t mean life won’t get rough. It doesn’t mean I won’t stumble sometimes. The Word makes it clear that trials will come, and mistakes are part of learning. But the key is this: there are some mistakes we can prevent. There are choices we can stop making if we’re willing to pause, pray, and let the Spirit lead us. I’ll give you an example from my own life. I used to find myself snapping back at people real quick, even when I knew it wasn’t necessary. I’d justify it by saying, “I’m human, I can’t help it.” But God reminded me—yes, I’m human, but I also have the Spirit of self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

 When I surrendered that excuse, I started to feel the Spirit check me in those heated moments. Instead of reacting, I learned to breathe, to wait, and to let His peace cover me. Every time we lean on “I’m human” as an excuse, we deny the power God has already placed in us. It’s like saying the Spirit isn’t enough when in reality, the Spirit is more than enough. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us (Romans 8:11). If that power could conquer death, then surely it can help us conquer a bad attitude, a bad habit, or a temptation we face in everyday life.

  So, here’s my encouragement to you: stop limiting yourself with excuses. Start reminding yourself of the Helper inside you. When you fall, get back up, but don’t stay down just because “you’re human.” Rise with the Spirit, learn from it, and let it make you stronger. At the end of the day, this walk with God is all a learning experience. We’re growing, we’re changing, and we’re becoming more like Christ every single day. But we can’t keep hiding behind excuses.
