Happy Bains interviews Maria Orlando. Maria says: I've been working in yacht management for over ten years. I didn't end up in this sector by chance: I got into it firsthand, working on complex projects alongside structured shipowners, family offices, and advisors who manage highly operationally intensive assets.

My journey began in 2013, at a Swiss firm specializing in UHNW assets. It was there that I learned to navigate compliance, tight deadlines, and incredibly high expectations. One of my first assignments was a reflagging operation on a 105-foot Benetti: the yacht had to be converted from a UK-flagged vessel to a Maltese commercial registration—with no margin for error.

My goal: to bring order to complexity, and give control back to those who lead.
