Mikel Merino sent the host team home with his header late in extra time. In the semifinals, Spain is set to face France who advanced past Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal on penalties. On the Copa América side, Venezuela and Canada’s quarterfinal match came down to another penalty shootout.
