In Romans 9 the apostle Paul begins a new part of his letter as he makes the case for the Faithfulness Of God by addressing the question of Israel. Paul contends that God is faithful even though not all of "Israel" had accepted Jesus as Messiah, for even from the very beginning inclusion in the covenant people was based on God's free election and not on natural rights.
