I still have to make a proper post about Kaipuhan Sulfur Vents, but I want to start sharing a short video of the place. It's also my way of gauging the reception to my videos. I want to make more videos about my travels soon as I feel travel vlogging is still untapped here in Hive.

Kaipuhan Sulfur Vents is a nature preserve located near Mt. Talinis. It's the place where beauty and destruction are juxtaposed. Imagine standing at the place where the evidence of volcanic activity of a mountain is evident. The air is very warm and humid, and the whole place is covered by the stench of rotting eggs. Fumaroles of different sizes scatter around and yet the whole place is very beautiful.

I have so many philosophical musings about this place, but I'll just reserve them for the proper post. In the mean time, let me just emphasize the sheer forces of nature and the inevitability of death when subjected to those forces. And yet, life thrives even in the harshest conditions. That makes the place very dynamic and the beauty lies even in the algae that thrives in the acidic stream water that started in the fumaroles.

To say that I was paralyzed is an understatement. It's been a while and I was contemplating leaving Hive altogether. But then the people from @hiveph visited Cebu and made me realize that my curation stint was not the be-all and end-all of my existence in Hive. The people that I made connections with are what's most important. Besides, I still get some random messages from time to time from Cebu pips asking for help with their withdrawal. What will happen to them if I'm completely cut off from Hive? I'm not having some hero complex, or maybe I am, I just want to be there to help in any way I can.

I know that what happened to me was self-inflicted and a cautionary tale on what I should look out for in the future. Now that the announcement about @worldmappin is out, I guess I will still stick around. For now, I want to rekindle my first passion for content creation. It seems I lost along the way. It's also time for a peaceful era and everything turbulent that happened. Just like this video, I find it so serene that I can't help but share.

I was trying to upload my very first TikTok video and came up with this! Together with @indayclara, we had a chance to do freediving again in Moalboal after almost two years. I can't believe it took us that long to visit Moalboal when we were there almost every month a few years ago. Times have changed and our lives have turned a different path, but the sardines and turtles are still there.

I will start exploring some things on TikTok and of course, share the output here. It would have been awesome to have the same UI in Threeshorts as with TikTok or Instagram reels. I'm sure there are other content creators who might be interested in joining from those platforms. Since I'm now free of any promotional activities, I might start promoting Hive on those platforms and see if there are tangible results. Anyway, I know there's so much to improve, but I'm happy with the outcome of this first video.

I have a lot of videos stored in my phone and I guess it's time to share some of them here. They're only short videos I took for IG reels, but I'm still so lazy editing them, so I'll just share them as is.

For this one, as I was scrolling through my saved videos, I was amazed by the oil palm plantation we passed by when we visited La Palmera Mountain Ridge in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat. When you say oil palm plantations, it's usually Malaysia and Indonesia as these two countries are the world's largest producers of palm oil. I didn't know we have oil palm plantations here in the Philippines. Maybe because it's located in a remote municipality in Mindanao and the reputation in that part of the country is not that good. It's only now that tourists are starting to explore the beauty that's hidden in those places.

Due to its remoteness, the only mode of transportation going to the ridge is via habal-habal or motorcycle. That's an adventure in itself; even going to Columbio is another adventure worthy of a different post. Anyway, I'm just amazed by how large the plantation is. It's almost like the whole mountain has been converted into oil palm groves. The guide told me that the locals prefer oil palm now because they can harvest almost every month and the value of oil palm fruits is higher now.

I had to take a break from my Taiwan series because @indayclara has been constantly asking me when I should upload this video or if I should upload it at all. It's been in our shared Google Drive for almost three months, and I didn't even watch it. Those who were present at the party had already uploaded their POVs. It has been long overdue for this video.

In my defense, a lot of things have happened since the party, and I was actually on the fence about this. Since it feels like the dust has settled, it's time to look back on the good memories. It's one of the happiest memories I have since joining Hive. Anyway, before I get all too sentimental, just watch the video.

One of the reasons why tourists flock to Siargao is because of surfing. Aside from the island's laidback vibe, the community built around surfing has been remarkable. Of course, when we had our chance to visit Siargao last December 7-11, 2023, we didn't miss our chance to try riding the waves of paradise, as Ser Arc (@kev.incredible) had called it. It was our first major activity on the island, as we anticipated it would require a lot of energy. Indeed, even if the activity is just an hour for Php 700.00, it was one of the most strenuous moments of my life. But it was a hundred times more fun!

I was expecting a lot of cuts and bruises from the fall off the surfboard, but I had no cuts or bruises. Many of my friends who tried surfing said you would fall many times and be cut and bruised by the sharp rocks; it didn't happen to us. As long as you fall correctly, there will be no issues.

I thought it would be very difficult to balance on a surfboard, but I was able to stand on my first try. We just followed the instructions of our guides and all of us were able to stand. We had a great time and even got very competitive. Let me just warn you that one hour is more than enough for you to get really tired. No wonder surfers are very fit.

Hello everyone!

While my days lately have been marked by travels upon travels, I have been feeling uncomfortable with what's happening in my life. I don't to delve much into the details. Good thing I'm always reminded why I'm doing what I'm doing. One of those reminders is this short drone footage taken during our island hopping yesterday here in Siargao.

I have always been reminded that when it comes to island hopping and tropical vibes, nothing comes close to the islands of the Philippines. Amidst often turbulent seas and high winds, there lies, like a speck of dust in the map, somewhere in the middle of a vast ocean some unparalleled beauty where only a few who dared can gaze upon it.

By this video, may I be reminded in the future that despite what's happening in my life, there's still so much beauty to marvel. The world is still so big and beautiful for me to just stay in one place.

Hello everyone!

A huge thank you to @indayclara for bringing me to Medellin Pain Relief! I have been holding on to this video because I want to check if the pain in my right hip would come back. I don't want to publish a review about a service that I haven't personally experienced. Although I trusted the doctor because of @indayclara's posts, I have been hesitant to have my bones cracked. 😅

Since I started mountain climbing, I felt this slight pain in my right hip. When I did yoga a few years ago, the instructor told me that I should work on the right part of my body because the muscles have so much compression. Maybe because of no proper weight distribution during my major climbs, the imbalance caused the muscles in my right pelvis to experience more pressure. This manifested as slight pain and shorter reach during alignment. I didn't mind it too much because I felt it wasn't a big deal.

As I spent most of my days in a seating position, the pain became more noticeable and I had to punch or massage my right hip to relieve some of the pain. It took years before I finally admit it's not normal anymore. It's a sign of aging.

Then came @indayclara who's been raving about how good Dr. Ric of Medellin Pain Relief is. She's been inviting me for a long time, but I kept on brushing it off because I was skeptical. When she almost can't walk, it was Dr. Ric who managed to make her pain more bearable. She was able to bring her family to the clinic!

When it was agreed to have a meetup with the teachers in San Remegio last May, @indayclara booked an appointment with the chiropractic clinic the next day. Because I had no money at that time, she even paid for the fee and I just reimbursed her a few days later. I am so thankful that I agreed to the set-up! I can say that it's been almost two months that I can barely feel any pain in my right hip. It was such a relief especially when I'm curating and compiling posts.

Hello everyone!

I consider myself a lifelong learner because I'm always in pursuit of knowledge, albeit it has morphed more into an informal setting and more for personal fulfillment than professional development. I am also an educator because I offer tutorial services. I love teaching because as Aristotle said, "teaching is the highest form of understanding". Although I can always choose to pursue a career in teaching, I don't want to be bothered by the bureaucracy and the paperwork associated with the profession. That's why I always admire teachers especially those who spent most of their life in the profession.

When @indayclara invited me to join the Hive Teachers' Meet Up in the north of Cebu, I told her to fix the date and that I'll cancel all my plans just to join the event. That sounds dramatic, but it's true. I really admire teachers because most of my young adult life decisions were influenced by my teachers, including the program that I eventually took in college. I was a little bit intimidated by them at first, but I guess mutual admiration won over and everything just became fun. I don't want to discuss more about the meet-up. Just watch the video.
