Foo Fighters are pretty, Foo Fighters are good. We are x-static to be covering FF's 1995 debut album this week! 

Discussion includes: we think Dave Grohl is the coolest, and even cooler because he played all the instruments on the recording of this album; we deep-dive into some of these lyrics, mainly because Meghan had 50% of the lyrics from this album wrong; the classic songs we want to hear FF cover; their 1999 tour with Red Hot Chili Peppers; Static-X and beard braids; we recall the death of an old friend (cargo pants); is Paul McCartney responsible for the origins of the screamo sub-genre; and there's some David Letterman talk, naturally.

Do all the people in the dance agree that we're well qualified to represent the LBC? Probably not, but we do love to dance to the rhythm, it gets harder. We're back after a much-needed Thanksgiving break to discuss Sublime's 1996 self-titled album. 

Discussion includes: how this album gives us "beachy" vibes; that awkward moment when "Caress Me Down" comes on the radio while you're in the car with your parents; the message in "April 29, 1992" that is probably even more relevant today; what Bradley Nowell would be writing about if he were still alive today; if you love your Dalmatian, set it free... if it comes back, it was meant to be; and Edith Bunker stops by at the end of the show to throw in her two cents - which was a lot of money back in her day!

Bust out your flannels, we're going grunge this week with Soundgarden's 1994 album, Superunknown!

Discussion includes: how we both love Soundgarden but somehow never talked about that until now; dissecting the Black Hole Sun music video (Meghan was "jump rope girl"); we love and miss the 90s alternative/grunge scene; celebrating the "shadow self"; the metaphysical realm; recurring segments "Covers" and "Period Piece"; and Christian Slater movie references come up again, of course.

About a month ago, we recorded a lovely episode about Blink's 1999 album "Enema of the State" only to witness the band going back to its original line-up before we released it. If there's anything we at Ye Olde Playlist love more than talking about our favorite bands, it's talking about them a second time.

Discussion includes: ticket price fiasco for the new Blink tour; keeping up with the Barkdashians; what organ is Blink?; the new single; acceptable places to wear your Blink merch; old favorites from "Enema" and a few that we plan on skipping from now on; having Tom and his awesome voice back; a "what movie is that from" moment that we promise will be quickly resolved; the Beatle's song we want them to cover; going away to college is great as long as you don't know anybody; Tom, aliens, and the metaphysical; Urethra Chronicles got us through some stuff; anticipating their new album, which we hope isn't full of penis songs; Juliana's new "period piece" segment; Dave Grohl is America's sweetheart; Kurt Loder will give you the news and you will listen; we love those leaves and that autumnal breeze; and we hear from Jeff Goldblum, or Robin Williams.

Halloween is fast approaching, and what an appropriate time to drop an episode about one of our favorite spooky bands, Alkaline Trio! We talk about their 2001 album "From Here to Infirmary" and all it's sonic splendor.

Discussion includes: the time we saw Alkaline Trio live; the time we DIDN'T see Alkaline Trio live; how listening to them helps when recovering from medical procedures; their cover of a Muppets' song; Juliana breaks Meghan's brain with more stuff she'd forgotten from 20 years ago; fond memories of our grandparents and their dentures; taking precautions at concerts to NOT get your teeth kicked out; the movie that ruined the band Aerosmith for Meghan; and we applaud Alkaline Trio for supporting and fundraising for women's reproductive rights.

In this episode, we reminisce about the Saves The Day album "Through Being Cool", a "cozy" album that still holds a special place in our hearts. Included in our discussion: is it ok to shorten Saves The Day to STD?; how Juliana has maintained an impeccable cd collection, while Meghan sold 99% of hers and now has to rely on the internet for everything; the bygone era of cd binders; Through Being Cool's very descriptive lyrics; the time we unexpectedly saw STD lead singer Chris Conley perform with Alkaline Trio; mix cds we made for each other; how Juliana is a lyrics person and Meghan is an instrument person; the Beatles' song that Meghan loved for years until she finally paid attention to the lyrics and was horrified; and how you need to be at least 21 years old to buy whipped cream.
