Yearlong Discipleship, Episode 31: 'How Many Times Do I Forgive Someone?'
In this episode Dan and Andrew discuss Matthew 18:21-22 (ESV)
"Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times."
Peter thought he was giving a generous amount of forgiveness and Jesus blows it out of the water with His response. Jesus understood what unforgiveness does to the soul and how bitterness, anger, fear, and control can take root.
Dan and Andrew discuss the process of forgiveness as well and how many times it takes 77 times + to truly forgive someone. It's not a one time act, but a continual surrender and choice to forgive and asking His Spirit for help in forgivining.
